Mr. Shane Owens is a health IT and health technology researcher/designer with expertise in user centered design for the purposes of evaluating and designing technologies. He has been involved in several projects related to the design and evaluation of health IT and health technologies including projects with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, AARP, and the Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH). Mr. Owens currently manages the Georgia Tech team on a project with DCH's Division of Health IT called TEFT, which seeks to improve care team collaboration in home and community based settings (HCBS) for Medicaid Waiver Program Members, their caregivers, service providers, and other stakeholders in the waiver programs. Mr. Owens has a unique background that combines an understanding of business (MBA) with technology (BSEE) and software design (MSHCI) giving him a broader perspective about the implementation of technology in the context of an organization’s structure, policies, processes, and culture.
